A BIT ABOUT BRITTNEY ERMON

Brittney Ermon is currently a news reporter at KSTP - ABC 5 Eyewitness News in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Previously, she was a bilingual reporter and fill-in anchor at NBC15 in Madison, Wisconsin. She's dedicated to shedding light on underprivileged and underrepresented communities.

At NBC15, Brittney reported daily on the unrest in Madison as social justice protests swept the nation following the death of George Floyd. She traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to report on the aftermath of the Derecho storm. In addition to severe weather, she's covered the coronavirus, riots, elections and health disparities in minority communities.

Brittney also uses Spanish in her reporting. She lived abroad in Spain for three months and studied Spanish in college. She didn't want a language barrier to prevent her from serving all communities.

How it all began...

When Brittney was in high school, she joined Homewood-Flossmoor Viking Broadcasting. In the beginning, it was just a class on her schedule, but it quickly turned into her passion. She kept students informed by anchoring the daily VTV newscast. She produced news and feature stories on the H-F community. She was always curious and found joy in talking to a diverse group of people. Brittney discovered what she wanted to do for the rest of her life junior year of high school.

In the journalism field, every day is a learning experience and the opportunities are endless. She's excited to see where this rewarding profession will take her.
